A full con Knoppix

Me da un poco pena abandonar por un rato mis recientes descubrimientos con RedHat, debido a la aparición de Knoppix. What the hell is Knoppix?, bueno, es una distribución de Linux que corre directamente desde CD (Live-CD's) , así como lo oyen. No es necesario instalar el Sistema Operativo porque ya viene listo para configurar un par de cosas y usarlo. Estuve revisando por ahí y Knoppix estaba bastante recomendado, así que lo descargué. Y no me decepcionó, más bien me entusiasmó lo suficiente como para hacerme de varias copias para los amigos que quisieran probar linux sin la necesidad de tocar su apreciado windows.
Tiene todo lo necesario. Lo único que tuve configurar fue la parte de red y porsupuesto el proxy (me canso). El entorno gráfico es KDE3, tiene OpenOffice, Mozilla 1.3 (Firebird se deja extrañar) y una gran cantidad de aplicaciones de escritorio para jugar. Y tiene una buena performance, va parejo en velocidad y estabilidad con mi RedHat. Permite almacenar la configuración que has hecho en cualquiera de las particiones en las que trabaja y si uno se quiere arriesgar un poquito se puede crear un archivo swap para mejorar la performance en máquinas con poca memoria. Lo recomiendo totalmente. Ideal para cuando estás en ambientes hostiles donde las máquinas solo tienen Windows. Se me nota la emoción. Pero ahora vuelvo al RedHat que todavía tengo mucho que hacer ahí.

Ya lo habia probado yo en mi casa! Solo tengo un detalle, al arrancarlo tengo que indicarle que haga un frame buffering de 1024x768 porque no le gusta algo de mi LCD de 15" en su autodeteccion. También no le gusta algo de mi tarjeta de sonido. Pero de ahi en fuera bastante decente. Ah bueno también esta lo de los winmodems. Tanto que aprender y tan poco tiempo.
